In 2022, Berlin Cert will be designated in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2017/745.
In 2024, the testing laboratory for electrical and mechanical testing will close.
2016
Since 1 June 2016, Berlin Cert Prüf- und Zertifizierstelle für Medizinprodukte GmbH has been a wholly owned subsidiary of GUTcert. This means that it is also part of the network of the internationally positioned AFNOR Group.
2001
Foundation of Berlin Cert GmbH as a corporation with TU participation. Transfer of the testing centre for medical devices to Berlin Cert GmbH with use of all facilities and experience of the testing centre for orthopaedic aids.
1997
Designated as a testing and certification body for medical devices as a Notified Body in accordance with the Medical Devices Directive 93/42 EEC. The testing spectrum includes not only rehabilitation aids but also almost all active and passive medical devices for diagnosis and therapy.
1980
Establishment of the Testing Centre for Medical Devices (PMG) at TU Berlin, as a supplement to the Testing Centre for Orthopaedic Aids. Its main task was to test medical devices in accordance with the Medical Devices Act and later in accordance with the Medical Devices Ordinance (MedGV).

Renaming of the testing centre for artificial limbs to Testing Centre for Orthopaedic Aids (POH).
after the 2nd World War
Resumption of work as a research institute with a testing centre for artificial limbs on the premises of the Technical University. The focus of the work now lay on the technical testing of orthopaedic aids. These tests, carried out exclusively on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMA), were a prerequisite for the approval of aids for war victims.
1915
Establishment of the testing centre for prosthetic limbs at the Technical University of Berlin by the then holder of the Chair of Machine Tools, Prof. Dr.-Ing Schlesinger, with the collaboration of the surgeon Prof. Dr. med. Sauerbruch. The main task at that time was the scientific testing of limb prostheses and work aids, as well as the preparation of expert reports.
